Dosing

CrCl Formula

CrCl > 50: 300 mg po qd.

CrCl 30-49: 300 mg every 48 hr.

CrCl 10-29 mL/min, 300 mg twice weekly.

CrCl 10-29: 300 mg twice weekly.

Important side effects

Asthenia, bone mineral density loss, diarrhea, flatulence, nausea, vomiting, fat redistribution, hepatitis B exacerbation, lactic acidosis/severe hepatomegaly with steatosis, renal impairment, renal failure, Fanconi syndrome.

Important drug interactions

Atazanavir, didanosine, ritonavir.

Protease inhibitors increase nephrotoxicy more than NNRTI's (PubMed).
