Micafungin (Micamine®)


CrCl Formula

CrCl > 80: 50 mg iv qd.

CrCl 80-50:

CrCl 50-10:

CrCl < 10:


Peritoneal dialysis:

Important side effects

Abdominal pain, acute renal failure, anaphylaxis, anemia, diarrhea, fever, headache, hemolysis, hemolytic anemia, hyperbilirubinemia, leukopenia, liver function tests abnormal, nausea, neutropenia, phlebitis, rash, rigor, thrombocytopenic disorder, thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura, vomiting.

Important drug interactions

Nifedipine, sirolimus.

Treatment of choice

Use for

Aspergillus (salvage therapy, only caspofungin has been approved as of 6/7) and Candida. Pneumocystis (in vitro). Prophylaxis for neutropenic fever (better than fluconazole).

Don't use for

Crytpococcus, zygomyces.
