Ceftizoxime (Cefizox®)


CrCl Formula

CrCl > 80: 1 - 3 g q 6 - 8 h iv.

CrCl 80-50: 0.5 - 1.5. g q 8 h iv.

CrCl 50-10: 250 mg - 1 g iv q 24 h iv.

CrCl < 10: 500 mg q 24 h iv.

Hemodialysis: dose after dialysis.

Peritoneal dialysis: 3 g q 48 h iv.

Use for

Arthritis, bacteremia, Cellulitis, Endocarditis, Escherichia coli infections, Gonorrhea, gynecologic infections, Haemophilus influenzae infections, Intraabdominal infections, Klebsiella pneumoniae infections, Meningitis, Osteomyelitis, PID, Pneumonia, Proteus indole positive infections, Providencia stuartii infections, Salpingitis, Sepsis, Serratia infections, surgical prophylaxis, UTI.

Don't use for


Third-generation cephalosporin.
