Dacryocystitis

Diagnosis

Infection of the lacrimal sac, it can be acute and chronic from obstruction with secondary infection.

Epidemiologic Risks

Microbiology

S. pneumoniae, S. aureus, Streptococci, and P. aeruginosa.

Empiric Therapy

Directed against the common organisms noted above.

Pearls

Watch for corneal ulceration, usually with S. pneumoniae.
