Epidemiologic Risks

Found in the soil.

Syndromes

Soft tissue infections after penetrating trauma and burns (PubMed).

Saksenaea vasiformis causes a fulminant necrotizing fasciitis in normal hosts.

Occasional invasive disease in the immunoincompetent.

At least on case after esthetic breast augmentation surgery in medical tourism (PubMed).

Treatment

Amphotericin B with surgery.

Posaconazole look promising (PubMed).

Notes

Often fatal even in normal hosts.
